No idea if you still see these comments. I have a slightly different problem. I want to assign a unique index number for each category, say here Consumer Services would be '1', etc. No counting. Then I want to have a column back in my worksheet where every 'Consumer Services' line would have an index number 1 next to it in a column. So the original worksheet with '1' next to Consumer, '2' next to 'Health' etc. But I have tens of thousands of lines. NOTE: FYI- In fact I actually do not have Categories but company names, and next to each I have many rows (quarters of financial data). I just need a way to 'ID' each company on all its rows of data with a unique index number. Can you tell me what step to modify?
Thumbnail is spot on 😄
Thanks, very useful. I have a database with job information, including keywords for each jobs and images. I tried to set up this keyword search power query which worked like a dream, however the images don't show up in the output table. Do you know if this is possible to achieve?
Thanks

Great! A very helpful alternative!
Complicated
bless your soul
best tutorial for this purpose. Thank you.
Glad you think so!
Thanks very much. However, it is a bit confusing when you load your mgr_select query. My Power Query kept on wanting to load it as a table and I eventually managed to get it to load as a single value (is this a parameter?) by closing the query down without loading
I have a similar scenario with Amount 1, Amount 2,...., Amount N columns, can you please advise how do I tackle that scenario

What if I want to find the max value for Item 3 instead of the last value? What formula I should use?
See if this fits. Use VLOOKUP to Find the 2nd Match (or nth Match) ua-cam.com/video/v9k8CoJQ-p0/v-deo.html
@@DougHExcel The helper table can help me get the last value for a specific cell but not the max value. It seems like I may need a 'sortby' function within xlookup to get the max value

Thanks Doug! That number is also great for urban planners to see if they need to double their infrastructure, if a city is seeing 5% growth they need to start planning on doubling their water treatment, police, fire, etc.
Wow, that’s a cool use case!
I hate this function, I never remember what to use, X% 0.00, or just a number, end up just doing it with the formula, same goes for all the depreciation stuff, still thanks for reminding me😳😳
No worries 😉, I have to remind myself on what to put in some of these functions too!
It was a great help
This was BS: the point is to add a background printable photo UNDER the cells !
You Saved Doug. Struggling from 2 days to get This one Thank You Soo much. Appreciate your work.

Hi Doug. Thanks for this video. It's a great time saviour. I tried this for my application where the keywords are a combination of numbers, alpha-numerals, aplhabets etc. (For example F-13.245, F-25.01 etc.) but unfortunately it is unable to match & keeps throwing an error after comparosn. Can you help me solve this?
This is great but how do you do if multiple tables?
Really appreciate this walk through - Thank you so much
You're very welcome!
Hi Doug, I have a powerquery file which I have prepared for my colleagues in a TEAMS. All of them can access it but the problem is that this file is connected to my msteer file which is hosted in another TEAMS and when they open it It does not update. How can I do to make sure that my colleagues can update it easily (I don't want to ask them to copy codes or whatever, it must be transparent for them) ? How can I do ? Many for your technical feedback !
